Roswell has rich history dating back to the 1830s when Roswell King passed through the area and noticed great potential for building a cotton mill along Vickery Creek. And he did just that building the largest mill in North Georgia. Roswell was first a part of Cobb County and the county seat of Marietta but Roswell's residence desired a local government and they submitted a city charter for incorporation to the Georgia Gen. Assembly and approved incorporation in 1854. Today, it's one of the largest cities in the state with the population increasing most steadily over the last 15 years.
Roswell is bordered by Milton, Alpharetta, John's Creek, and Peachtree Corners. It's also home to several rivers and creeks such as Big Creek, Bull Sluice Lake, Chattahoochee River, Morgan Falls Dam, John's Creek, Crooked Creek, and Audrey Mill Creek because of these outdoor landmarks, Roswell is home to multiple parks and recreational facilities. The city maintains more than 900 acres of parkland, three historic house museums, the cultural affairs department, and Roswell recreation.
There's nothing quite like tubing down the Toccoa River from Blue Ridge to Helen to Macon. Grab your friends and family and rent your tubes from a number of outfitters that offer transportation to some of the best stretches of the river.
